Week 12 Santa Fe Rural C/Oficina

Hola a todos y saludos!

Not a ton of time this week, but it was definitely a great week! We found some new investigators, we taught some lessons, and we had an investigator come to church! Also, we are teaching a family that has relatives that are members of our ward, and at first they weren't super receptive to the idea of the church, but they now told us that they want to come to church, and that they are considering being baptized! Also, Elder Llanos had the idea to go contacting by singing this week, so we both took with us a little himnario to sing some hymns. Some people let us in, and we sang to them hymns like Soy un Hijo de Dios and Familias Pueden Ser Eternas, and then testified to them of the truths in the hymns, and then set up a date to come back and teach a little more. It was actually pretty successful, and it was a fun and different way to find investigators. :)

This last saturday we had an activity called capilla abierta. Essentially, we use a kit we have, and we turn a capilla into a visitor's center. We had the activity in the capilla de Santo Tomé, and when we do that activity, all of the missionaries from the zone are there all day. In the morning, every missionary gets a new companion (a member), and they go out with the members who know the area to invite people to come to the capilla abierta. We then come back, have lunch, clean up the capilla, and have some practices. This is how it works: the hermanas begin the tour at a banner with a picture of the Christus statue in the chapel, and have the group listen to a recording of Christ's words (similar to Temple Square), and then proceed to the cultural hall to other banners, and explain the basic doctrines of the gospel. They then pass the group to some elders at the baptismal font dressed in white, who explain baptism and the Holy Ghost, and then, if there are investigators present, invite them to be baptized. After that, they continue the tour as a member from the ward presents on each of the organizations (EQ president talks about service, YW president talks about youth activites, etc.). At the end, there is a reference table, where members and non-members leave referrals, names of people they know who would be interested. It's an incredible activity, and the Spirit was definitely felt throughout the day. We will continue having capilla abiertas throughout the entire mission, and I think we're planning on doing one here in Rural as well, once we finish renovations. I'm excited!

This gospel is true, this is the work of the Lord, and I love you all. Remember that the Spirit is the greatest companion we can have, in whatever we do. :)
